About Davide De Martin

I am an engineer and an amateur astronomer. I live in Venice, Italy, where I work in a big power supply industry.

My main interest is definitely about astronomy. I have loved this matter and the night sky since I was a child. Other interests are in astronautic and space exploration (both manned and unmanned), astronomy popularization, computer enhancement of astronomical images, drawing, painting, collecting material from the early manned space age, and other things. I also like the old-fashioned Italian style, especially on cars. This is why I love my 40+ years old Fiat 500.

Since 1997, I have collaborated with "Coelum", a very popular Italian astronomy magazine. I wrote dozens of columns and several articles, most of them about space exploration and astronautic history. I also have produced or cooperated in several works of popular science, like websites and multimedia CD-ROMs.
One of my projects is visible at http://www.spacearchive.net.

Since 2005, I am collaborating with the European Space Agency's Hubble Public Outreach Office (http://www.spacetelescope.org) as a consultant working as an image processor.
In 2008 I have begun to process data to produce astronomical images for educational use also for the European Southern Observatory.
These collaborations bring me to work with the data collected by astronomers with the most powerful telescopes ever built, like the NASA/ESA's Hubble Space Telescope and the ESO's Very Large Telescope.

I have a 13-inches Dobsonian telescope and I enjoy myself observing the marvelous celestial objects disseminated in the warm summer night skies.

Something else about me.
